He was born on June 20, 1944 in the small Maine town of Livermore. His family moved to New Gloucester where he Graduated from New Gloucester High School. Jon met the love of his life, Linda Mae Clarke of Scarborough in 1964. They married a year later on December 4, 1965. Although their marriage got off to a difficult start, with an automobile accident on their wedding night and a house fire during their time in the hospital, they were happily married for 55 years.
He was very proud of his three daughters and many grandchildren. He loved any time he could spend with his family. He had a great sense of humor, and took great enjoyment in the friends that he made and he made many. He liked to stay busy with his many projects, and hobbies which included building his home in Rangeley and his camper. He enjoyed skiing, golf, board games, kayaking, walking, “moosing”, bluegrass, daily devotions with his wife and times spent by his fire pit.
He and Linda lived in New Gloucester where they were long-time members of the New Gloucester Bible Church. They served as teen youth leaders for 15 years.
Jon was a longtime employee of the Maine Turnpike Authority where he worked his way up and retired as the Director of Engineering, Building Maintenance and the Sign Shop. Upon retirement from the Turnpike, he and his wife relocated to Rangeley, Maine where they became active members in the Rangeley Free Baptist Church.
After a few years living in Rangeley, Jon and his wife became “snowbirds” between Rangeley and Bokeelia, Florida. They became involved and faithfully served in The First Baptist Church of Pine Island.
He is predeceased by his father Milburn, his mother Dorothy and his sister Narvie. He is survived by his devoted wife Linda, and his three daughters Tracy Tyree of Virginia, Tara Harter (Mike) of Florida and Terri Hawkes (Bryan) of Pennsylvania, his eleven grandchildren, Ashley, Hannah (Robbie), Logan and Landon; Samuel, Solomon, Sadie and Sawyer Grace; Gavin and Owen; great grandchildren Carter and Chet; his brothers Vince (Beverly), Dave (Cindy) and Ben (Marilyn) and several nieces and nephews.
