Known for his faithfulness to Jesus, his kindness and integrity
Born in Brooklyn, New York. He was the son of the late Lionel Teixeira Sr., and the late Bernice Teixeira.
John is survived by his wife of 52 years, Patricia Teixeira, his son Johnathan, and his wife Heather: his daughter, Heather, her husband Vu: his eight grandchildren, Gabriella, Evann, Noah, Hayden, Isabelle, Jack, Katelyn, and Lilli, and his siblings, Tex, Bernadette, Vincent, Dennis, Patty, Sue, and Robert.
John graduated from New York Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. He served in the Vietnam war in the Army, 101st Airborne Division. He was a New York City Policeman. John was also a member of the Tactical Patrol Force. He served as Vice President of the Smithtown Christian School Board for many years. He was also a proud member of the 1013 club of Southwest Florida.
John and Patricia shared 52 years of marriage together. They met when they were 13 years old, and fell in love shortly after. They were each other’s best friend and sweethearts until the end.
John was a faithful man who loved the Lord and his family. He used his life to show Jesus to those around him. He was known for his kindness and integrity. A scripture he referenced often was, “Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and vanisheth away” James 4:14.
A visitation for John will be held Sunday, September 12, 2021 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Coral Ridge Funeral Home & Cemetery, 950 Chiquita Blvd. S, Cape Coral, FL 33991, followed by a funeral service from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM.
