David E. Smith

David Edward Smith passed away June 22, 2010 with his wife of 43 years and two daughters at his side. David was born May 1, 1948 in Sommerville, NJ. He married Rita Warr of Wharton, NJ in 1966. He moved to Florida with his wife and three children in 1980.

David worked construction all his life and taught many his trade. He was active in children's sports and spent many hours coaching. David enjoyed taking cruises with his wife and friends, family gatherings, golfing, fishing, gardening and being "Papa" to his three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son David and a brother Jim.

The family offers sincere thanks to the many doctors, nurses and friends who helped his battle with cancer.

He is survived by his wife, Rita Marie Smith; two daughters, Tracey Cerchie and Tammey (Daniel) Gray and three children, Chandler, Danny and Lexi; also surviving are 3 brothers, 2 sisters and many nieces.

A Memorial Service honoring David's life will be held Saturday, June 26, 2010 from 1:00-3:00 PM at Coral Ridge Funeral Home, 1630 Pine Island Rd., in Cape Coral. In lieu of flowers donations may be directed to Hope Hospice, 2430 Diplomat Parkway E., Cape Coral, FL 33909 or the American Cancer Society .
