Curtis William Duchaine Jr. was born on April 9, 1977, to Curtis Duchaine Sr. and Betty (Davis) Duchaine. He was raised in Dunseith where he attended and graduated from Dunseith Public schools. Curtis loved sports, being outdoors, and having fun with his friends and family. He had a great sense of humor and always lit up the room when he walked in. He was a multi-sport athlete and enjoyed playing football, basketball, baseball, and softball. Curtis also enjoyed traveling all over to play in softball tournaments. He had always showed great pride when talking about playing in the tournaments with Sioux Nation and Thunder. He was a concrete finisher for 17 years and had always bragged to his family and friends that no one could keep up with him when it came to pouring concrete.
Curtis married Lynn Azure in 2002 and gained 2 daughters, Chandra and Makayla. They then had three children together, Curtis III, Naoma, and Amara. They later divorced in 2022. He was very involved with their sports teams and even spent some time as a coach for track and field, cross country, and basketball. He enjoyed sharing stories with his kids about his childhood/early adulthood. He was very close to his family and was always telling them that he loved them every chance he got.
Curtis put away his softball gear and began playing in dart tournaments around the state of ND before he moved to Florida. Not long after moving, Curtis met Catrina and they began building a life together. He would always say that Catrina was the one for him and they planned to get married in the future. He loved sitting by the pool, grilling and spending time exploring parts of the state with Catrina and her children. It was one of the happiest times of his life.
