Carmelo Nicotra was born on April 10, 1924 to Agostina Giuseppe Boscarino and Francesco Nicotra in Catania, Italy. He passed away peacefully on November 7, 2022 in Cape Coral, Florida at the age of 98. He immigrated to Argentina and then to the United States where he met and married his wife, Lucy, who preceded him in death in 2016. He retired in 1987 from the International Longshoreman's Association and moved to Cape Coral. He was an avid fisherman and vegetable gardener who was also fluent in 3 languages until the time of his death. During his retirement, he enjoyed traveling and returning to Italy to visit his family. He was most proud of his grandchildren whose accomplishments brought him great joy. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
A Funeral Mass for Carmelo will take place on Friday, November 25, 2022 at 11am at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church; 1922 SW 20th Ave, Cape Coral, FL 33991. Interment will be at Coral Ridge Cemetery following the Mass.
