Anthony Michael Campo passed away peacefully, on Tuesday, October 25th, while surrounded by his loved ones. Anthony, also known as, “Papa Tony” and “The Best Dad Ever”, was 81 years of age and was a new resident of Cape Coral, Florida, where he recently moved, to be closer to his children.
Anthony was born to his parents Leah and Salvatore Campo, in Manhattan, New York, on August 14th, 1941. He is survived by his wife Mary Campo, Daughter Christine Radesco (Joseph Radesco), Son Joseph Campo (Ingrid Campo), brother John Campo and all of his cherished grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Anthony enjoyed a long career as a shipping manager for various fashion companies, in New York City’s Garment District. His career spanned several decades and included Huk-A-Poo, Rafiq, Richard Warren, Donna Ricco, Starington Limited and Anna Sui. This is no doubt where he developed his polished sense of style and keen eye for fashion.
He moved his family from Brooklyn, to Patchogue, Long Island, in 1969, where he made many fond memories with family and friends. He remained a member of the community until 2022.
Anthony, was a die-hard New York Yankee’s Fan, rarely missing a game. His love of the team went back to his childhood. He knew everything that there was to know about players and stats and was willing to share his knowledge with anyone who would lend an ear. Anthony was a “car guy”. He loved everything about them. He could tell you anything you wanted to know about makes and models, and passed this affinity down to the generations below him. He enjoyed collecting watches. In most recent year’s, he developed a fondness for Invicta watches. He was known to have made, more than one, late night purchase, while flipping through the channels. He would never just buy one for himself, he would always get one for someone else too. That was just the kind of person he was.
Anthony will be remembered for always looking suave. He was well put together and always smelled great. He had a great sense of humor, and quick wit. He always had a joke up his sleeve and would be quite pleased with himself, when he delivered the punch line. Mostly, he will be remembered as a Gentleman, with a kind and generous soul. He made everyone feel like they were family.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 4th, 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM, Coral Ridge Funeral Home, 950 Chiquita Blvd. South, Cape Coral, Fl 33991. (Service will take place 7:30 PM).
