Susan Melanie Nunnery

Susan passed away on July 19, 2023 in Fruitvale, Texas. She was born on February 18, 1952 in Seymour, Indiana to Carter Shenk and Georgeanna Litchfield Shenk.

Susan grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas area and graduated from Richard King High School. She married her one true love, Curtis Nunnery on February 16, 1992. The couple spent 31 wonderful years together. Ten of those years they were each other’s constant companion – as they drove an 18-wheeler all over America and Canada. Susan loved their travels and all the places they saw with their little dog, Shelby. Susan was quick to turn any motels they stayed in into a home – even carrying a suitcase with pictures and items to make any room feel like home. Susan loved the beach and sea turtles. Her and Curtis spent many vacations traveling and staying at the beach. They enjoyed travels to Mexico to visit the orphanages and helping with the care of the children. Susan was a kind and giving person. Once the couple retired she enjoyed making their home full of love and warmth. Susan loved time spent relaxing and time with family. Susan always made you feel welcome and loved. Susan will be dearly missed but live on in the hearts of all that knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Carter and Georgeanna Shenk; sister, Julie Murphy.

Susan is survived by her beloved husband, Curtis Nunnery; son, Justin Mosley; siblings: Stephen and Pamela Shenk, Sarah and Henry Wright; brother-in-law, Mike Murphy; numerous nieces and nephews; a host of other family and friends.
