A funeral service for Ollie Lee Davis, 104, of Canton, Texas will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at First Baptist Church of Canton, under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home, Bro. Mike Roberson officiating.
Ollie Lee Mounce was born in Ballinger, Texas. She was the daughter of Josh Thomas Mounce and Lottie Lee Mounce. Ollie graduated from school in Ballinger in 1934. She worked for Bob Tunnel Grocery store after graduating. She met and married her husband William Arthur Davis known to all as” Top” August 21st, 1937. They were married for 62 years. They moved to Kermit, Texas in 1946. There they raised 3 children Darlene, Shirley, and Art. She and Top moved to Canton, Texas in 1978 and joined the First Baptist Church in Canton. Ollie was known to all as the community as a seamstress, baker and First Monday entrepreneur with quite a clientele of customers. She was also famous for her home baked Sourdough and Banana Nut bread which she loved sharing with family and friends. She also loved gardening and canning. Her yard and flowers attained her yard of the month awards several times. She had many friends at Church and throughout the community.
Ollie is preceded in death by her parents, her husband “Top”, her brother JT, and her beloved daughter Darlene.
She is survived by her children Shirley and husband Fred Hudson and Art and wife Janet Davis as well as Darlene’s husband Ken Clark. She had 8 grandchildren Murray Hudson, Curtis Clark, Sandy Miller Sweetin, Denise Brockmyer, Amy Warren, Rene Thompson, Shel Davis, and Shea Williams. Ollie had 19 great-grandchildren and 24 great-great-grandchildren.
Ollie had a humorous personality, loved her neighbors, friends and sharing her talents. “Life does not come with a manual; it comes with a mother and her bible.”
The family would like to thank all of you for your prayers, the love and care you showed her and all of your kind words and friendships over the years.
God blessed us with her presence. She is in heaven with her loving saints, Face to Face with our Lord and Savior.
Perhaps we had an angel among us all along …..
