Inez Dale, age 77, died on December 28, 2020 in Phoenix, Arizona due to non-COVID related respiratory failure. She lived in Canton and Fruitvale since 1986 with her husband, Dick Dale who preceded her in death in 2010. For nearly 20 years, she served diligently as the primary caregiver at the Van Zandt County Children’s Shelter and is survived by countless foster youth and their families.
Inez was born November 19, 1943 to William Conant and Phyllis Rogerson in Decatur, Alabama. She traveled the world as a young girl, as her father served in the Air Force. She graduated high school in St. John, Arizona in 1962, and was crowned Ms. Apache County in 1964. Later that year she married Dick Dale of Kansas, and the two had one son, Ben Dale (54) of Manhattan Beach, California. She is survived by her son, his wife Michelle, and their children Bronwyn (28), CJ (19), Katie (17), Jake (15), and Joe (10). Her sister Sandi Grandberry and husband Lee, live in Phoenix, Arizona.
Over the years Inez worked as a bank teller and head cashier in New Mexico and Texas, before working as a legal assistant in Canton, Texas. In 1992, she took over the management of the Van Zandt County Children’s Shelter, where she served until 2011. She lived her life in service, both in the community, as well as at church where she held numerous leadership positions in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Inez will be buried next to her husband in a graveside service beginning at 12:00pm on January 16, 2021 at the White Rose Cemetery in Willis Point, Texas. Friends and loved ones are welcome to attend in person, or view the ceremony on Zoom using the meeting ID 811 1505 4552.
