Luettie, “Lue” as close friends knew her, went to her heavenly home on July 17, 2024 in Winnsboro, Texas.
She was born on January 23, 1936 in Grand Saline to Henry Thomas Goebel and Thelma Lee Horn Goebel.
Lue was part of a very close family, 11 children, and she being one of the older was a mother figure to many of her younger siblings. She was a Christian by faith and a longtime member of Little Hope Baptist Church. Lue was married to her beloved husband, Curtis, for 48 years at his passing.
Lue enjoyed gardening, quilting and crocheting. She loved a good game of dominos and taking care of her pet birds. The best days were days with family. She loved spending time with her sister, Jeanie, and going out to eat. She will be dearly missed, but live on in the hearts and memories of all that knew and loved her.
Those waiting to see her in heaven: her parents, Henry and Thelma Goebel; beloved husband, Curtis Golden; siblings, Lavell Hallonquist, Tilmon Goebel and Joel Goebel.
Those here to cherish her memory: daughter, Mary Elizabeth Jordon; numerous grandchildren; siblings: Melba “Jeannie” Howle, Patricia Prestidge, Anita Goebel, Arvis Goebel, Debra Brooks, Paul Goebel and Barbara Rhodes; numerous great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews; a host of other family and friends.
A gathering before the service will be held one hour prior to service at the funeral home.
Interment will be at Myrtle Springs Cemetery in Van Zandt County, Texas.
