A funeral service will be held for Harold D. Shaw, 94, of Ben Wheeler, Texas at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at Heritage Trail Cowboy Church in Ben Wheeler, Texas with graveside to follow at Holly Springs Cemetery in Martins Mills, Texas under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home with Pastor C. R. Chapman officiating.
Harold passed away peacefully on January 15, 2021 at his residence. He was raised in the Bois Darc Presbyterian Church and was saved at the age of seven. He lived a long life of serving his Lord and Savior, spreading the Good News.
Harold was born on November 8, 1926 in Ben Wheeler, Texas to Jesse Joshua Shaw and Monnie Hall Shaw. He graduated from Arc Ridge School of Ben Wheeler. He began in the x-ray training program offered through Methodist Hospital in Dallas when he enlisted in the US Navy during WWII, where he was a part of the Hospital Corpsman in San Diego, California in March of 1945. He was honorably discharged in April 1946 and then completed his education on the GI Bill and became a registered radiology technician. He was also a part of the US Air Force Reserve and was called to active duty during the Korean War and was stationed in Greenville, South Carolina, where his love for planes began. After discharge he learned to fly light air craft. He worked in several hospitals throughout Texas as Chief Technologist for over 30 years. He did obtain his insurance and securities licenses and worked in that industry for several years. He was a long time member of Pine Lodge #203 AF & AM Masonic Lodge of Ben Wheeler where he was a Past Master of the Lodge.
Harold was a member of Heritage Trail Cowboy Church. His family continues to celebrate his life and is comforted by knowing he rests in the arms of his Savior.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Monnie Shaw; and his twin brother, Darrell Drake Shaw.
Harold is survived by his wife of 31 years, Alma G Shaw; son, Darrell Shaw and wife, Deloris of Waco; son, Farrell Shaw and wife, Larkin of Tyler; daughter Karen Shaw Tarver and husband, Mark of Tyler; grandchildren, Sam Shaw, Tammy Shaw Summers, Lincoln Shaw Edgemon, Adrianah Tarver, Abbigale Tarver, London Shaw and Judah Shaw; great grandchildren, Anne-Marie Summers, Madeleine Summers and Isaac Summers.
A special thanks to: the nurses, Frances, Rebecca and Jennifer with Always Accurate Hospice; to Ruby with At Home Health support services; and to Jeremy Thomas and family for their daily assistance.
Family will receive visitors from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 20. 2021 at Heritage Trails Cowboy Church.
