Bobby was a dedicated family man, and there was never any question about who was his number one priority. He met his wife in first grade, and announced his intent to marry Jean Beard when he was 6 years old. He was a very persistent suitor, and first proposed to Jean during English class in 9th grade. She says she thought he was kidding, but he insisted he wasn’t and she finally said “sure.” The couple were married on May 29, 1954 and had 68 beautiful years together. Bobby and Jean were long time members of First United Methodist Church in Canton.
Bobby was a devoted father. He loved his son, Sam and served on the boards of different organizations such as ARC and MHMR. Bobby enjoyed playing sports with his daughter and watching her participate in soccer and softball. He never missed a concert, theater production, or ball game. He loved playing handball and golf in his younger days and played virtual golf and online poker in his later years. He enjoyed playing Bridge with friends. He loved computers – especially Linux – and could talk computers for hours with anyone who would listen. He loved to share stories about his family and his life experiences. He had many hobbies throughout his life – some of the major ones were photography and cars. Bobby loved the Lord, his beloved wife, Jean and his children. He will live on in the hearts and memories of those who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, L. F. and Veta Sanders; son, Samuel Sanders.
Bobby is survived by his beloved wife, Elsie “Jean” Sanders; daughter, Cindy Sanders McAllister; and a host of other family and friends.
