Bob passed away peacefully on April 23, 2024 in Tyler, Texas. Bob was born on May 31, 1935 in Ft. Worth, Texas to Manuel Franks and Dorothy Long Franks. He grew up in Ft. Worth and graduated from Polytech High School. Following high school, Bob played minor league baseball for several seasons. Later in life, he built a career in banking and finance. Bob was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church of Canton. He was very active in the church for many years. In 2009, he was involved with the Walk to Emmaus and had been attending reunion fellowships.
Bob was a great storyteller. He was known amongst his friends and family for his sense of humor, and loved spending time swapping stories with them. For 18 years Bob and Karen owned and operated a bed and breakfast style retreat in East Texas. Bob was an active man who loved his family and life. He will be dearly missed, but he will live on in the hearts and memories of all those who knew and loved him.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Dorothy Franks; children: Suzanne McKinney, Sherrill Patton and David Franks; sister, Anne and brother, Bill.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Karen; children: Brett Franks, Greg Stanberry and wife, Deliliah, Holly Williams and husband, Ian; grandchildren: Justin McKinney and wife, Holly, Andrew McCasland, Courtney Rogers and husband, Derick, Alisha McCasland, Patrick Stanberry and wife, Kristen, Chase Stanberry, Ike Williams, Isabelle Williams; a multitude of great grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.
A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
