He was born on January 15, 1943, in Steubenville, Ohio to the late O.J. Dutch DeMarco and Roberta (Hobson) DeMarco. He was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in North Canton. He lived in the area most of his life and graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1961. He attended La Salle University and Walsh College. His family always came first. Spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and the pride he took in their accomplishments was known by all.
Robert retired from Penguin Putnam Publishing Company in 2010 after 23 years of service as a District Sales Manager. During his time at Penguin Putnam, he was the National Sales Manager of the Year five times and was also recognized several times as National Sales Associate of the Year. Prior to his employment at Penguin Putnam, he worked for 23 years at the City News Agency.
From 1964 until 1990, Robert was the Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop #35, sponsored by St. Paul’s in North Canton and the K of C Council #3777 North Canton. He has over 50 years of continuous registration with the Boy Scouts of America and 6 years as a youth member of Troop #16. During his service to scouting, he was recognized with the Silver Beaver, District Award of Merit, Vigil Member Order of the Arrow, Fifth Year Pipestone, Scouter’s Key, Troop #35 Cardinal Award, and the St. George Award for Service to Catholic Scouting in the Youngstown Diocese. In 1976, he and Troop #35 leaders and scouts laid out the 26.5-mile Zoar Valley National Hiking Trail. The trail runs from Ft. Laurens in Bolivar to Schoenbrunn Village in New Philadelphia with an overnight stay in Camp Tuscazoar in Zoar, Ohio. He was also a 50-year 3rd Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus Council #3777 in North Canton.
Robert was preceded in death by his sisters, Paula Satrang Ball and Adele Iwanusa, and his brother-in-law, Ken Iwanusa.
Robert is survived by his wife of 60 years, Myra (Norris) DeMarco, whom he married on September 5, 1964. He is also survived by his four children: Cherie (Brian) Barth of Uniontown, Scott (Debbie) DeMarco of Etna, Timothy DeMarco of Florida, and Erin (Austin) Crowe of North Canton; two sisters, Kathy (Robert) Morrison of Georgia and Mary (Mary Kate Mead) DeMarco of Stow, two brothers, Edward (Connie) DeMarco of Florida and Patrick (Cindy) DeMarco of Florida, 10 grandchildren: Justin (Lindsay) Barth, Kaleigh (Vinny) Silva, Lauren (Joe) Harrison, Renee (Jacob) McGinnis, Trevor DeMarco, Erica (Dillon) Gantea, Anthony DeMarco, Angelo (Amber) DeMarco, Hannah Crowe, and Austin Patrick Crowe; and seven great-grandchildren: Dominic, Sophia, and Oliver DeMarco, Noah and Leah Harrison, Enzo Silva, and Evelyn Gantea.

Per his wishes, Robert will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at St. Paul’s Catholic Church on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. Calling hours will be held the evening prior at Karlo-Libby Funeral Home on Friday, December 27, 2024 from 4:00-7:00 p.m.
