She was born May 16, 1921 in Canton, Ohio to the late Glenwood and Helen (Fox) Oliver. Eileen was a 1938 graduate of Jackson High School. During WWII she worked at the Hoover Company, and after the war, married Nevin C. “Nubby” Starkey with whom she raised four children. She worked at Stern and Mann’s and later held various local jobs including one at a collection agency. Following her husband’s death, she went back to college and became a case worker for Job and Family Services and Social Security. Eileen was also active in the Catholic Church in Rosary Altar Society and various church activities.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Nevin C. Starkey; daughter, Mary Ann (Starkey) Treacle; granddaughter, Sarah (Starkey) Wadian; two sisters; and one brother. She is survived by her son, Nevin (Polly) Starkey; daughters, Sharon Brodbeck, and Sue (Ken) Catlin; grandchildren, Shannon, Stephanie, Jennifer, Amy, Jessica, Patrick, and Daniel; and nine great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am on Friday at Christ the Servant Parish, with Rev. Msgr. Lewis F. Gaetano officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call from 6-8pm on Thursday in the Karlo-Libby Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.
