Born on December 26, 1936 in Canton, Ohio, she spent the majority of her life in Perry Township as a devoted wife, mother, and friend. After being diagnosed with COPD and Crohn’s Disease, she spent her remaining years at Belden Village Nursing Home, where she discovered her passion for art. She colored hundreds of beautiful illustrations that adorned the walls for all to enjoy. The angels and stuffed animals she collected were proudly displayed in her room, bringing her comfort on difficult days.
Thank you to the staff of Belden Village Nursing Home for always making sure she had a daily supply of cream sticks, stocking her mini fridge with treats, and accepting her feistiness with grace and empathy. We would also like to thank Traditions Health of Cuyahoga Falls for providing compassionate hospice care to Marilyn in her final days.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Marion Richard Venables and step-daughter, Cindy Kiefer. She is survived by sons David (Mary) Becker of Canton, Steve (Gina) Venables of Stow, stepdaughters Sheila (Jimmy) Ratliff of Leesburg, GA, Tammy (Ken) Higginbotham of Rockledge, FL, and many grandchildren. Cremation will take place at Karlo-Libby Funeral Home in Canton, OH. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to the Humane Society of Stark County at 5100 Peach St, Louisville, OH 44641.
