A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, July 21 at 12 Noon at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church for Marilyn M. Gardner, 94, who entered eternal life July 15 at the Canton Regency Retirement Center.
Marilyn was born in New York City Feb. 24, 1923 to John King and Mary A. (Kraemer) FitzGerald. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Robert V. Gardner, Sr. to whom she was married for 65 years, daughter Jill Gardner Weaver, daughter-in-law Janie Foltz Gardner, sons-in-law Joseph Plottner, J. R. Sandy and Gene Yost. She is survived by her children Sr. Joanne Gardner, HM, Bob (Bev) Gardner, Judy Gardner, Nancy Yost, Mimi (Joe) Beighley, Janet Plottner and Jack (Susie) Gardner, 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Claire McKellogg and brothers Don (Flo Ann) FitzGerald and Bob FitzGerald, sister-in-law Carol McConnell and brother-in-law Dave Gardner, and many nieces and nephews and their families.
After her children were in school Marilyn worked in her husband’s dental office as office manager for 21 years until their retirement in 1992. She then volunteered at Mercy Medical Center. She was an avid bridge player and also enjoyed euchre and poker, but her family was most important to her.
The family is most grateful to everyone at the Canton Regency Independent and Assisted Living where Marilyn was a resident for 13 years and to Crossroads Hospice and Palliative Care for their very special TLC.
Calling hours will be Thursday, July 20 from 6 – 8 pm at the Karlo-Libby Funeral Home, 5000 Everhard Road and on Friday, July 21 from 11 – 12 noon at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church.
