She was born in Alliance on October 11, 1932 and moved to Canton in 1942. Joann graduated from Lehman High School in 1950 and Bowling Green State University in 1954, where she was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority. Jo was married to her high school sweetheart, William H. Moock (Bill) who died in 1972. A teacher at heart, she taught Physical Education at Timken High School from 1954 – 1958, and later taught at North Canton Middle School from 1976 until retiring in 1998. Joann was an active member of Faith United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was also active in her community throughout her life, including Canton College Club, Junior League, PEO (chapter BB), Gourmet Club, antique club, and picnic and tennis at Branhaven Swim and Tennis Club. Jo loved spending time in her sewing room, making beautiful clothes and curtains for others. She enjoyed travelling to many places taking beautiful trips around the world with friends and family.
She is survived by her three children: Andrew Moock (Kathy) of Brecksville Ohio, Bradley Moock (Nina) of Raleigh NC, and Stacy Moock Wozniak (Mike) of Alpharetta GA. She has 7 loving grandchildren: Lauren Moock, Billy Moock, Diana Moock, Michelle Moock, Kendra Wozniak, Rachel Wozniak, and Matthew Wozniak, and one great granddaughter Nina Lily Pendleton. She is also survived by her three siblings: Jane Oyster James of Illinois, Carolyn Hubbard McQueen of North Canton, and Robert Hubbard of Florida. She was preceded in death by her brother, George Hubbard of Maryland.
A celebration of life will be held at Faith United Methodist Church on Friday, April 30, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Steve Stultz Costello officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the scholarship fund at Faith United Methodist Church, 300 9th Street NW, North Canton, Ohio 44720.
