Beloved daughter of Samuel and Rose (Zaft) Hershenson of blessed memory. Beloved wife for 65 years of the late Herbert G. “Jerry” Miller. Devoted mother of Marjorie Lukacher and her husband Joel, and Marc Miller and his wife Kim. Beloved sister of Joseph and Betsy Hershenson of blessed memory. Cherished grandmother of Ilana Yashar and her husband Nimi, Sarah Lukacher, Nicole Marks and her husband Fred and Joshua Miller. Beloved great-grandmother of Moshe, Amitai, Noa, Chana, and Michel Yashar and Maya Marks.
Sylvia grew up in a Yiddish-speaking household in Norwood, MA. After a move to Boston, she graduated from Dorchester High School for Girls. Together with Jerry, she raised her children surrounded by art and Judaica created by her own hand – paintings, ceramics, and needlepoint. She loved spending time with friends and family and was an avid Red Sox fan.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, August 30th at 11 AM at Chevra Shas Cemetery, 776 Baker Street, West Roxbury, MA. Following burial, shiva will be held at her late residence.
