Marilyn Lavender, most recently of Canton, MA, passed away surrounded by her devoted daughters at the impressive age of 95. She was the daughter of the late Anna (Farber) and Morris Fleishman; beloved wife of the late Al Lavender; cherished sister of the late Philip Fleishman & his wife Anita; loving mother of Nadine Lavender-Petersen, Andrea Lavender & her husband Mark Popovsky, Matthew Lavender & his wife Julie Lee; adored grandmother of Erica Popovsky & her husband Dan Blank, and Stefan Lavender, and proud great-grandmother of Lily & Aaron.
Marilyn was born and raised in Hartford CT. She attended Mt. Sinai school of nursing in New York, where she met her future husband, Al. They were married for 71 years and raised 3 children while living in New York and then Maryland.
Marilyn worked as a nurse in a pediatric practice as well as in an allergists’ office before obtaining her BS and becoming the director of an Ultrasound School.
Marilyn was known for her ever-present smile and positive attitude toward life. She nurtured meaningful friendships and never passed up a chance for a new adventure or learning opportunity. She was known for hosting wonderful (and delicious) gatherings of friends and family. A lifelong learner, Marilyn was always reading a book or participating in current events groups.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 22 at 1 PM at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, 475 Washington Street, Canton, followed by burial at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham Street, Sharon.
