John Douglas "Doug" Gauthier

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mr. (John) Douglas Gauthier of Tide Head, who left us peacefully at his residence on July 10, 2024, at the age of 85. Doug was born on February 13, 1939, in Campbellton, to the late Richard Gauthier and the late Irene (Bendwell) Gauthier.

In his early years, Doug traveled across Canada, including Ontario and British Columbia, working in various jobs. His deep love for northern New-Brunswick eventually led him back home, where he settled in Tide Head. A trained power engineer, Doug worked at the provincial hospital until retirement.

Doug was an enthusiastic snowmobiler, spending many winter days exploring the snowy trails of New-Brunswick, a pastime that brought him immense joy and camaraderie with his close friends and fellow enthusiasts. An avid outdoorsman, Doug loved camping and riding his four-wheeler during the summer months, reveling in the natural beauty of New-Brunswick. These activities were more than hobbies; they were a way for Doug to connect with nature and create unforgettable memories with his friends and family.

Doug is survived by his loving wife, Carol Ann Kingston; his cherished daughters, Lisa (Rick), Tanya and Tracy (Keith); and his treasured grandchildren, Jessica, Kimberly, Bryanna, Caitlin and Devon. He also leaves behind his brother, Richard (Pat); half-brother, Jean Louis; aunt, Una; Brother-in-law Dana; and numerous nieces and nephews. Doug was predeceased by his brother, Gerald.

A funeral service to celebrate Doug's life will be held a Maher's funeral Chapel, 64 Lansdowne St., Campbellton on Monday, July 15 at 2:00 pm. Family and friends are invited to gather and share their condolences at the chapel from 1:00 pm until the time of the service.

In Doug’s memory, a donation may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
