Born in Campbellton, NB, she was the daughter of the late Phillip De la Perrelle and the late Catherine Hamilton. She worked for ten years with the Montreal Gazette. Upon her arrival in Campbellton, she secured a position as housekeeping superintendent at the Soldiers Memorial Hospital.
She was an avid curler and bridge player, having contributed a lot of her time and interests in the Duplicate Bridge Club in Campbellton.
During her retirement years, she cruised around the world, having climbed the Great Wall of China on her 80th birthday. She also took great pleasure helping out at the tea room/coffee shop for the patients at the Village Nursing Home.
Hilda, a faithful member of the United Church of Campbellton enjoyed the fellowship of the U.C.W. and involvement in their charitable projects.
She will be sadly missed by her children, Isabel Mann (Donald) of Tide Head, New Brunswick, Mary McDonald (Gerald) of Orangeville, Ontario, Jean Nutt (Brian) of White Rock, BC, James Reid (Lynn) of Edmonton, Alberta, John Reid (Evelyn) of North Bay, Ontario, and Patsy Palmer (Derek) of San Diego, California, her many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held on October 15th at the First United Church Campbellton at 3pm. A Eastern Star Service will be held at 2:45pm, just before the funeral service. Visitation will be one hour before. Interment will be at the New Mills Cemetery.
