Charles was born on April 2nd, 1947 in Campbellton, NB to the late Thorald Leonard Fowler and the late Ruth (Henderson) Fowler.
Charles worked as a marine engineer until his retirement in 2020 when covid forced him to suspend his travels and slow down for his short-lived retirement. He would travel the world during the fall/winter when he worked for Kent Line, only to return and manage/operate the Idlewilde Campground during the spring/summer months (1980 until 1995) in Campbellton, N.B. Later in life, he would be away during spring/summer, working for Grizzly Marine Services – Inuvik, N.W.T. managing the ferries when the winter roads would close.
Charles Fowler always returned to his home and family in Campbellton, N.B. where he would enjoy reading the news, listening to the CBC and working on projects. He enjoyed nature, walking his dogs, teasing his grandchildren, and always had a new expression and nickname for everyone.
Besides his wife Margarite, he is survived by his son Skipp Fowler (Annabel Dupuis Fowler) and two grandchildren Nathaniel and Éloïse Fowler. Also, his brother John Fowler (Lilian Fowler), sisters, Vivian Wilband, Joanne Fowler Reid (Ron Reid), and Ruth Fowler Englehart (Ernest Englehart).
Charles’s knowledge, skills and love will be missed by all who knew and appreciated him. His untimely passing reminds us to love those around us and appreciate the brief time we have together.
There will be no ceremony, a memorial site will be set-up at a later date to commemorate Charles Fowler.
