Andy passed away on 29 December 2022 at the age of 78. He is deeply missed by his loving wife of 55 years Candace “Candy”, his sons Andrew (Camille) and Christopher (Nicky, Jolene), and his adoring grandchildren: Jared, Ethan (Alora), Casten, Sydney, Avary, Karson, Samson and Teagan.
Andy was born in Vancouver, B.C. on 15 May 1944, the eldest child of Andrew Alexander Fawcett and Wilhelmina Christina “Chrissy” Edwards. He grew-up with his three siblings in Hammond, B.C. playing baseball and hanging out with family and good friends that he maintained relations over the years.
Andy met his beautiful bride-to-be Candy in 1966, and married in 1967. Shortly thereafter, the newlyweds moved to Port Alice, a small picturesque town on the northwest coast of Vancouver Island, which would become their home for 38 years. Andy’s career was primarily at the local pulp mill, initially working in the finishing room, later proudly becoming a journeyman Millwright. In the early 1980s, he accepted a staff Maintenance Supervisor position in the mill Bleach Plant, where he remained until his retirement. In 2005, Andy and Candy retired to Campbell River, although Andy never really left Port Alice. He would often reminisce about how wonderful it was to raise a family in Port Alice.
Andy is survived by his wonderful sisters Marilyn (Fred) and Lorraine (Peter), brothers-in-law John (Cathy) and Shawn (Joanne) and numerous nieces, nephews and good friends. Andy is predeceased by his parents, his brother David and sister-in-law Joan.
Andy’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the Doctors, Nurses and Staff at the Campbell River Hospital for their care and love during his time of need. In lieu of flowers, Andy’s family would ask that you consider a donation to the Campbell River Hospital Foundation or such other similar organization.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.suttonsfuneralhome.com for the Fawcett family.
