Phyllis was born on March 25, 1932. She was the daughter of Blaine and E. Jane (Xander) Uplinger of Oil City, Pennsylvania.
Mrs. Taylor was a graduate of Oil City High School in 1950. Phyllis married the love of her life, Glenn R. Taylor, Jr. on Dec. 20, 1952 and together they raised two sons. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn, formerly a Senior Vice President at First Seneca Bank in Oil City and Pittsburgh. The couple resided in Honolulu, HI, Glendale, CA, Oil City, PA, Evan City, PA, DeBary, FL, and later Mechanicsburg, PA. Together they celebrated 67 years of marriage. Early in her married life, she was employed by Bell Telephone Company in Oil City and Pacific Bell in Glendale, CA. She was a loving homemaker for most of her life. She enjoyed traveling, square dancing and social activities with her husband. Together, they served as co-chairs of Oil Heritage Week. Phyllis delighted in reading, playing the piano, cards, and spending time with family. She played an active part in church activities and volunteered in various organizations.
She will be missed by her son, Robert “Scott” Taylor and his wife, Pamela (Berg) Taylor of Corinth, TX; her son, Mark Randall Taylor and his wife, Jean (Nemes) Taylor of Mechanicsburg, PA; and her grandchildren, Jamie (Gordon) May of Mechanicsburg, PA, Gerald Taylor also of Mechanicsburg, PA, Joan (David) Wolf of Red Lion, PA, Gregory (Holly) Taylor of Little Elm, TX, Michael Taylor of Corinth, TX, Douglas Taylor of Fort Worth, TX. In addition, Phyllis had 4 great-granddaughters and 2 great-grandsons. She is also survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Blaine “Sandy” Uplinger and Kathy (Quinn) Uplinger of The Villages, FL; a niece, Leah (David) DeAngelo of Doylestown, PA and nephew, Chad (Noemi) Uplinger of Sinking Spring, PA.
A viewing will take place at St. Timothy’s Lutheran Church in Camp Hill, PA on Thursday, July 6, 2023 beginning at 10:00 am. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am. A burial service will be held at Brandon Cemetery in Seneca, PA on Friday, July 7, 2023 at 12:00 pm.
The family suggests memorial donations in lieu of flowers be sent to St. Timothy’s Lutheran Church, 4200 Carlisle Pike, Camp Hill, PA 17011.
