She grew up with her brother Donald (deceased) and parents John and Martina Troup (deceased). Raised Roman Catholic, she attended St. Lawrence grade school and Catholic High, now known as Bishop McDevitt. She furthered her education at Chestnut Hill College and Pennsylvania State University.
Marianne moved to Camp Hill, PA, after marrying Leon Baden (deceased), a kind and loving Jewish young man she met while they both worked at The Patriot News. They married in 1954 and shared 53 wonderful years together. Marianne continued working at The Patriot News until they adopted their two daughters from Hong Kong, Rebecca and Amanda, in the late 1960s.
Marianne dedicated the early years of their marriage to being a homemaker and later a stay-at-home mother. Once her daughters were in high school, she worked for Mountz Jewelers in Camp Hill for nearly 15 years, where she may have even sold you your wedding bands! She was also an active member of the Camp Hill Women’s Club, a philanthropic organization, serving as a past-President.
Despite their religious differences, Leon and Marianne, along with their daughters, were members of Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Camp Hill from 1973 until 2018, when Marianne moved to Kennett Square, PA, to be closer to her daughter Rebecca and her family.
Marianne lived a long and beautiful life, passing one week shy of her 96th birthday, surrounded by loved ones. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America in M. Marianne Baden’s name.
She is survived by her two daughters, Rebecca M Baden and her husband James M Felty, and Dr. Amanda L Baden and her husband Michael L Glicksman and her three grandchildren, Elizabeth (22), Jack (20), and Leelee (17).
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday December 10, 2024 at 11:00am at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 3435 E Trindle Rd, Camp Hill, PA 17011. A viewing will be held before Mass at 10:00am at the church. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 4075 Derry St, Harrisburg, PA 17111.
