Frederick “Fred” Sanders, age 74, of Mechanicsburg passed peacefully on August 7th, 2023. Fred was born August 13, 1948, the son of the late David Sanders & Gladys Baer, in Mechanicsburg, PA. He shared his life with his devoted wife and soulmate of 56 years, Darlene Sanders. Fred also leaves to mourn his passing his two children Brian Sanders and Angie Sanders-Hopkins; his “Main Man”, son-in-law Rick Hopkins; his three grandchildren, Pagean DiSalvio (Nick), Devin Sanders (Becca) and Chase Sanders; one great grandchild, Evangeline DiSalvio. He is also survived by two loving sisters, Karen Fisher & Susan Ditmer, his best friend and honorary brother, Ron Nagle, and his two beloved dogs, Marcus and Glory.
Fred was a graduate of Mechanicsburg Area Senior High. Afterwards, his self-taught knowledge of electronics and engineering provided him with a respected career in several positions including the Pennsylvania Railroad, Ralston Purina, C.H. Masland & Sons, The Lear Corporation, and Dairy Farmers of America where he retired.
Fred, a lover of music, spent time as a drummer in local bands. He taught himself to play the piano and composed several songs. Fred and his wife Darlene also spent several years as local disc jockeys.
Fred was a uniquely intelligent, funny, and loving man who will certainly be missed.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 13th, Fred’s Birthday, at 2pm at the Neill Funeral Home, 3401 Market Street in Camp Hill with a celebration of life service to follow at 3pm.
