Arlene M. Gross, 88, of Camp Hill, PA passed away peacefully on July 13, 2014, at the Harrisburg Hospital. She was the loving wife of John W. Gross, Jr., for 66 wonderful years. John always said she was “God’s angel on earth.” Born on August 18, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Carrie (Miller) Lamm, Reading, PA, Arlene graduated from Reading High School and Kutztown State College. She taught at Amanda E, Stout Elementary, Reading, Hillside Elementary, New Cumberland, and Fishing Creek Elementary, Lewisberry, touching the lives of many kindergarten children during her 20 years of teaching, retiring in 1984. Her family and friends were the center of her life. She had an amazing faith and was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church, Camp Hill.
She is also survived by three children, Kaye Sensenig, wife of Dean Sensenig, Reading, PA, Diane LaRocca, wife of Jim LaRocca, Mechanicsburg, PA, and Brian Gross, husband of Edie Gross, Orrstown, PA. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She also has a brother, Donald Lamm, husband of Dorothy Lamm, and two sister-in-laws, Jean Lamm (wife of the late Charles Lamm) and Ann Lamm (wife of the late Richard Lamm) of Reading, PA and a brother-in-law, Dr. Donald Gross, York, PA.
Her life will be celebrated Wednesday, July 16, 2014, 11:00 AM at Grace Lutheran Church, 1610 Carlisle Road, Camp Hill, PA. All who loved her are invited to attend.
Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions are requested to be made to the Arlene M. Gross Memorial Fund, Grace Lutheran Church.
Arlene’s family would like to thank the compassionate staff of Pinnacle Health System, In Home Instead and Celtic Care who cared for her during her illness.
