Ulf John Ove Brodin

Peacefully passed away on Saturday, September 16th, 2017 at Hospice Wellington, Guelph in his 77th year with his family by his side. Loving husband to Doris (nee Schoenfeld), proud Pappa to Ann (Tomas) Wikstrom and Linda (Johnny) Brumen, Morfar to Natalie (Adam) Lilja, Emelie Wikstrom, Alex and Lova Brumen and Gammel Morfar to Frank Lilja. Dear brother to Thore (Sonja) Brodin, Gun (Rolf) Lagergren, Lars (Lill) Brodin and families all of Sweden. Brother-in-law to Doug (Lorraine) Schoenfeld and Pat Hartley, uncle to Karolyn (Reed), Christopher (Jen), Shauna (Matt), Melisa (Mark), D.J. (Sabrina) and Jennifer and families. Ulf is predeceased by his parents John and Alice Brodin, parents-in-law Neill and Jean Schoenfeld, brothers-in-law Jamie Anderson and Peter Hartley and sister-in-law Carol Anderson. Ulf was born in Sweden and moved to Canada in 1984 where he met his Lovy Doris. They were later married on November 1, 1986. He was proud to be a Swede and very proud when he became a Canadian citizen in 2001. Ulf was a long time member of the Galt Country Club and will be missed by many. Friends and family will be received on Thursday, September 21, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Barthel Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Road, Cambridge (519-653-3251). A Memorial Service will be held the following day, on Friday, September 22, 2017 at 11 a.m. at St. Peter's Lutheran church, 810 King Street E., Cambridge. As expressions of sympathy, donations made in Ulf's memory to Hospice Wellington would be appreciated. A very special thank you to the kind and caring staff of Hospice Wellington, the staff of Cambridge Memorial Hospital as well as the PSW's who helped Ulf while at home. Your compassion has been so greatly appreciated.
