I was a psw student in 2011. I did a 6 week work placement at st lukes and had the pleasure of working with Sadie. She was so sweet and had the best sense of humor. Don't tell anyone, but she was my favorite. I'd sit and chat with her any chance I got. Wonderful lady. I've thought of her often since then. Rest in peace sweetheart. Heart felt condolences to the family and friends.

Sadie lit up a room when she entered.Goodness just radiated from her. You would never know that she was left an orphan at 17,with two younger sisters to look after, that she put herself through Teachers College. She met Elmer and she worshipped him and together they started a family.But they never had it easy,everyone in this room probably knows that.They worked hard, and Fate was often unkind to them, but they persevered.They loved each other and they loved their children and their children loved them.

But through it all,the good times and the bad times, she shone on,saying there are always people worse off than ourselves.


Her visits home to Cape Breton were often a ten day party and she was usually the last one to go to bed.Nephews and nieces and cousins all made a point of paying homage to her and they did it with enthusiasm and gladness.Those days have gone now, and her passing has made our world  a lot smaller.But we still have the memory of those warm Big Beach nights when the fiddler is playing and Sadie is saying " well maybe a little one but don't make it too strong."

The passing of a parent is a most difficult time in our lives. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Sadie was and always will be a great person and I will never forget the good times we shared on Rouse Ave.

She was an amazing friend and neighbour.
