Scholar, athlete, daughter, granddaughter, sister, and friend. Naomi was passionate and driven, prolific as an academic researcher, competitive as an athlete, and persistent in her fight against melanoma. Sadly she lost her battle on December 14th, 13 months post diagnosis. Naomi will be greatly missed by her parents, Zdenek and Tineke, sister Carly, Opa and Oma Hoekstra, Babi and Strejda Sajer, Uncle Ron and Tante Gill Hoekstra, cousins Ian and Erik Hoekstra, and best friend Luc van Loon. There will be a private family funeral this week followed by a celebration of Naomi’s life on January 12th at The Pines in Preston (Cambridge) from 2:00 -5:00 PM. Naomi’s wish was that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation Melanoma Immunotherapy Research.
