Mike is survived by his wife of 46 years, Margot, his daughters Kim & Stacey and sons-in-law Jay & J.T.. Mike was grandfather to Kayli, Nate & Reeve. Mike is survived by his sister Kaaren and brothers Bill & Brendan. Mike will be fondly remembered by in-laws, many nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by his parents Oliver & Helena Kummer, brother Kevin and sister Kathy.
Mike taught us that love isn't always shown in saying "I love you" but it's found in actions. He was a man of few words, but when he used them he would always make us laugh. He had a great sense of humour and used that humour to always prove his point. He secretly loved hugs even if he pretended he didn't. His love was shown in the way he took care of his family. If you needed something fixed, he was there to fix it. If you needed to understand how something worked, he'd explain it to you. Everything he did was to help others, whether that was working with the North Dumfries and Cambridge Hydro or volunteering his time at Saint Luke's Place to help with maintenance and giving his family a wonderful life. You needed him, he was there. Always! A truly great man.
Our hearts are broken, but his family is at peace knowing he's at peace.
A special thank you to all the health care professionals at Saint Luke's Place for their kindness and care of Mike.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions mandated by the province, a celebration of Mike's life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mike's memory can be made to the Saint Luke's Place Capital Campaign.
