Cherished wife of the late Lloyd George Stewart. Devoted Mother of Margaret (John), Gordon (Dana) and Catherine (Jim). Beloved Grandmother of Jessica Blythe (Phillip Blythe), Ryan Anderson, Cameron Schnarr (Andrea Franic), Christa Petitt (Andrew Petitt), Cameron Stewart, Ian Stewart (Francesca Sinicrope), Emily-Jane Sazzad (Radeyan Sazzad) and great Grandmother of Caleb, Hannah, John William, Hunter, Myles, Bronwyn and Arya. Predeceased by her sister Alma Saddler, and brothers Laurie, Burt and Myles Wishart. Marion will also be missed by many nieces and nephews.
Marion was born on March 1, 1924 at Wisharts’ Point, New Brunswick, the fourth child of John and Myrtle Wishart. She attended high school in Tabusintac, New Brunswick afterward enrolling in Nursing at the Montreal Homeopathic Hospital, whose institution was reputed for its devoted nurses. Upon graduation, Marion married Lloyd Stewart and moved to Toronto where she worked at the Wellesley Hospital setting up a post-operative recovery room with two colleagues, the first of its kind in Toronto. Marion stayed home with her three children but went back to work after the passing of her husband in 1966. Marion worked at the Brantford General Hospital and was also instrumental in setting up the Constant Care Nursery where she worked from 1970 until 1986.
Throughout her life Marion was very active in her church, St. Thomas Anglican in Cambridge where she was a member of the Altar Guild, a Sidesperson and in charge of the ladies group that prepared for receptions after funerals. After retirement, Marion was one of the founding members of the Ancient Mariner’s Canoe Club, also the Swinging Eights Square Dance Club, where she was active until 2010.
Marion has always had a sweet disposition that made her beloved wherever she went. She lived at Queens’ Square Terrace in Cambridge from 2008 until 2020. She loved the staff there & they loved her. In December, due to failing health, she moved to the Revera Ridgeview in Stoney Creek in December. Marion has been much loved and will be forever missed.
As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to St. Thomas Anglican Church or to the Ancient Mariner’s Canoe Club, both in Cambridge.
