It is with great sadness that the Mercier family announces the peaceful passing of Marion Eileen Mercier at Cambridge Memorial Hospital on September 18, 2014. Marion had a loving and wonderful life for 49 years with her husband Paul. She is the proud mother of Pierre (Karrie) and Dale (Jill). Marion’s loves of her life were her three granddaughters: Logan, Sarah and Madison - “We love you Nanny”. She will be forever cherished by her brother Lorne (Aina) and sisters: Doreen (Fred) and Judy (Wayne). Predeceased by her parents Victor and Marie Hammond, brother John (Joan), sister Marjorie (Bill), father and mother-in-law Henri and Marie-Ann, brother-in-law Ernest (Mariette) and sister-in-law Rita (Marc). She will be sadly missed by sisters-in-law: Pauline, Anna, Louise (Gerald), Francine (Emilien), Lucy (Michel), Claire (Claude) and brother-in-law Gilles (Geraldine). Born on Bell Island, Newfoundland and lived in Ontario for 52 years. Marion’s life was devoted to her family and friends. She enjoyed going shopping, and can still be remembered complaining about the line ups on Black Friday’s but could not wait to go again next year to buy things for her three girls. She loved a game of cards or a game of dice. As she would say “it’s a bit of fun, and we have a laugh”. If she wasn’t shopping or going to the mall on Tuesday’s (mallrats) to visit her friends, she would be home cleaning. You could always get her going by saying “there’s a cobweb over there!” To which she always replied “where?! Where?!” She will be sadly missed by all. The family wishes to thank the CMH 3rd floor nurses who treated her with respect and made her as comfortable as possible. Visitation will be held at Coutts Funeral Home, 96 St. Andrews Street, Cambridge (519-621-1650) on Sunday, September 21, 2014 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, September 22, 2014 at Saint Thomas Anglican Church, 110 Francis Street, Cambridge at 11am. A reception will follow at the French Club, 647 Franklin Boulevard, Cambridge at 12pm. If desired, donations to the Cambridge Memorial Hospital Foundation or charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
