Kay was born in Benares India into a well educated and conservative family. While she adopted the value of education, she strained against rigid conservatism. She met her husband at university and they married against the wishes of their families. Education was always important to her, and she persevered in her own education. Besides earning degrees in India, Kay earned a B.Ed. in Washington and in 1959, a PhD in Bristol, England. In 1965 Kay accepted a position as a Psychologist with the Ontario Government and with her eldest daughter in the University of Calcutta, she moved to Orillia, Ont. with her four year old daughter. Kay worked for the Ont. Government until her retirement, all the while ensuring the success of her family.
Kay is predeceased by her husband, Sourendra Nath, and is survived by her daughters Chaitali (Amit) and Piyali (Tom) and her grandchildren Param, Zoey and Jem. Her happiest moments were the marriages of her two daughters. She demonstrated unconditional love for her family, especially her grandchildren. Kay leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and resilience that will forever remain in the hearts of those she loved.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 pm, on Friday November 22 at Coutts Funeral Home, where family and friends are invited to share memories of her remarkable life.
