Janet Mahaffey

With sadness, the family of Janet Isabel Mahaffey announces her peaceful passing at Stirling Heights Long Term Care, on Sunday March 16th, 2014, in her 82nd year. Born in Marysburgh, Ontario she is Heavenly reunited with her husband Harold of 60 years. Predeceased by her sister Doris, she will be sadly missed and fondly remembered for her wit and great sense of humour by her nieces, nephews and dear friends. Her passion and great love of teaching will be remembered by the hundreds of students she instructed at Stewart Avenue, Chalmers Street and Tait Street Public Schools over her life-long career. Janet also worked behind the scenes to support her husband Harold’s passion for the arts as he performed and sang at the Galt Little Theatre and numerous other venues. In their retirement years, they spent many winters together in their home in Florida enjoying their other interests of golf and swimming. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Stirling Heights Long Term Care on Thursday March 20th at 11am. Interment to take place at a later date. A special heartfelt thank you to all the staff at Stirling Heights LTC for the loving and compassionate care you gave Janet in her final years. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or The Coping Centre.
