George Cross

Passed away after a brief battle with cancer on Thursday, October 20, 2011, at the age of 83. Beloved husband and best friend of Joyce (Sauve) Cross for over 63 years. Loving father of Marilyn Readhead (Colin) and Debbie Mast (Doug) and the late Linda Cross (1958). Dear Pa of Dale and Drew Mast. Survived by brothers Joe, Doug and Ken and sisters Isabelle, Coreen, Susan and Marilyn and by many nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by his parents Charles and Vera Cross, brothers Bill and Norm and sister Thelma. George worked at Babcock & Wilcox for 32 years. He was an avid sports fan, especially the Blue Jays and Maple Leafs, attended Forward Baptist Church and was a Life Member of Branch 121 (Galt) of the Royal Canadian Legion. Summers were spent in Port Elgin for 40 years and he looked forward to his time spent there with his many friends. George was a quiet and wonderful husband, father and grandfather, he will be missed by many. A Memorial Service will be held from the Chapel of Coutts Funeral Home, 96 St. Andrews Street, Cambridge, on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at 3 p.m. with visitation one hour prior to service time.
