Elaine Alice McGowan

With great sadness we announce Elaine McGowan (nee Truax) passed away peacefully (age 70) at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, October 25th, 2021. With great strength, she battled cancer for over a decade and fought right until she passed peacefully surrounded by family.

Elaine is predeceased by her loving husband James “Jimmy” McGowan (age 82) on July 9th, 2021. Also predeceased by her parents Alfred and Mary Truax (nee Peacock) and brother Brian Truax. Elaine and Jim are survived by their son Cory and wife Angela McGowan (nee Banger), and granddaughters Jade and Rachel. Their beloved granddaughters will always cherish the wonderful memories spent with Grandma and Grandpa at Green Acre Park, on trips to Florida and all the special sleepovers and favourite restaurant outings. Elaine is also survived by her brother David Truax (Jackie Misuraca) and cherished nieces Krista (Brad) and Kelly Truax along with their children, Alexis, Cameron, Brooklyn, and Audrey. Also Jackie’s children, Dani and Chaz Misuraca. Elaine is also survived by her brother Garry Truax and daughter Abi.

Elaine and Jim had close relationships with cousins and their families, and many special friends from Green Acre Park and from travelling every winter since Jim retired from Budd in 1998.
