With sadness and heavy hearts, we announce that Agnes Guillou, aged 59, has passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 after a long battle with cancer. She was surrounded by the love of her family and passed peacefully. Born in France, Agnes excelled at French cooking and worked for many years as a French teacher at several elementary schools in Ontario. She loved to read non-fiction and even belonged to a book club. She also enjoyed walking, canoeing, knitting, and socializing with her many friends and family. She was well travelled, having been to France, Hawaii, Morroco, Spain, and many other destinations. Most recently, she travelled with her whole family on a week-long cruise in the Caribbean; a trip that meant the world to her. Agnes volunteered with the Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto, raising funds and awareness for Breast Cancer Research. Agnes will be deeply missed and forever loved by her husband of 39 years, Alain Guillou, her children Aurelien Guillou, Charlotte Guillou, and Camille Guillou, and her mother Simone Malherbe. She was predeceased by her father Pierre Malherbe. Friends and relatives are invited to a Celebration of Agnes’ Life on Saturday, May 20th at Barthel Funeral Home (566 Queenston Road, Cambridge) from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to The Canadian Cancer Society.
