Vikki made her debut in this world, into the hearts of her parents Rodney and Denise on October 12, 1973. She was the second of four children. She had two sisters; Leisa and Angie, and a brother, Rob. Vikki grew up on the family farm and went to school in Melville. After graduating she ventured off to Regina to get her nursing degree.
Patients quickly learned that if Vikki was their nurse, they were in good hands. As a nurse Vikki spread love, joy and compassion across three provinces; Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Alberta. In Alberta she fell in love with the mountains and made her home in Calgary.
Vikki was the best aunt ever to her niece, McKenna, and her nephews; Tristan, Chase, Mylan, Hudson, Henry, and Conlan. She was always fun to be around and made many happy memories for the kids to cherish. In May of 2023 she had the ultimate joy of meeting her great-niece, Naomi.
If you were at her wedding, you will always remember October 22, 2005. It was a night of love, laughter and liquor. The highlight of the night was the bride dancing on the table.
Vikki was one of the kindest, most caring and generous people I know. You could count on her to bring a coffee, supply a meal, or just sit and listen. Even when she was not doing well herself she was still reaching out to help others.
Vikki was always up for one adventure or another. Skydiving, cliff climbing and dog sledding to name a few. But Mother Nature was her true love. Hiking, watching a family of beavers in a stream, or just having a bird eat seeds out of her hand, were all things that brought her comfort, peace and healing.
In the early months of 2023, cancer raised its ugly head and the fight was on. Vikki was so brave, she stayed strong and positive throughout. She had an amazing medical team as well as the love and support of family and so many friends.
Vikki’s soul left us on June 18, 2024.
Open wide the pearly gates. Gather round family and friends for a big celebration. One of God’s best is coming home.
Cheers Vikki, to a happy ever after. Love You.
