Troy Ballard Black of Calgary, AB passed away suddenly from cardiac arrest at the Puerto Vallarta Medical Center in Mexico on February 17, 2018 at the age of 34 years. Troy had a passion for politics, hockey, golf, cooking, looking after others and making people laugh. He married his best friend Lindsay five years ago in August and they enjoyed traveling and spending time together in work, in play and in life. Troy always wished to make a difference in the world. Although Troy lost his battle, he would have taken solace in knowing that the blood donations made in his name will save many other lives. To honour Troy’s memory, we ask that you please make a donation to your local blood bank. Troy is lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his wife Lindsay (fur-babies Tucker, Lacey, Napa and Trina); his mother Patricia Nelson; Aunt and Uncle Barbara & Bill Boyd; Cousins John Boyd (Michelle), Karen Irving (Todd, Kate & Tyler); as well as Donna & Brooke Barnes, and Phil Nelson. He will also be missed greatly by his in-laws Susan & Grayson Schalin; and his loving GG Malinda Dyck as well as extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his Maternal Grandparents, Grace and Ray Ballard. Troy lived by his Grandad’s motto “To Thine Own Self Be True”. Relatives and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street NW, Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Saturday March 3, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, if so desired, donations can be made in support of research and treatment of brain injuries caused by concussions directly to the Hotchkiss Brain Institute, University of Calgary, Cumming School of Medicine HRIC 1A10, 3330 Hospital Drive N.W., Calgary, AB and/or the Canadian Mental Health Association Calgary Region, #105 1040 7 Ave S.W., Calgary, AB.
