Thomas was a beloved husband, father and grandfather who is survived by his wife Diane; son Bruce (Jocelyn) with grandson Xander; son Lance; daughter Betty (Jody) with granddaughter Christina and grandson Adam; son Neal (Tiffiny) with grandson Heaton and granddaughter Sloan. He was predeceased by his older sister Mei Wai.
In 1950 at the age of nineteen, Thomas came to Canada to start his adult life and to make a better life. He eventually met his beautiful wife-to-be Diane and they were married in 1958. Later that same year he was also able to sponsor his mother to come to Canada from China. With hard work and perseverance he and Diane owned and successfully ran Tom’s Food Store and along the way they produced four children and eventually five grandchildren. He never forgot his roots and always kept in touch with his village in China. Thomas was a kind and generous man who worked very hard, never took anything for granted and sacrificed so much (with Diane) to provide for his family. He loved watching NFL, heavy weight boxing, enjoyed cars, music and travel. But his real love was his family. Family meals, family pictures (‘take another in case the first one doesn’t turn out”) and family vacations were his favourite past times. Thomas had a rich and fulfilling life and will be so dearly missed.
Sincere thanks and gratitude to his caregivers whose assistance and support during the last few months at home meant a lot to the family.
Due to the Covid -19 Pandemic, only a private family service will be held at this time.
