He was born in July, 1959 to Abera & Tedale Derzie. Solomon spent most of his formative years in Ethiopia. He moved to Winnipeg in 1989. Solomon was a devoted member of the Winnipeg Ethiopian Community, of which Solomon gave almost thirty years of service. He was a faithful member of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church.
He was loved and cherished by many; and will be remembered and deeply missed by his sister Mendayenesh Derzie; his three children, Fitsum (Zelalem), Elias, and Yodit Derzie; grandchildren Kalkidan, Godelyas, and Tselot; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.
We would like to thank all the staff at both the Tom Baker Cancer Centre and Dulcina Hospice for their care and compassion.
A Private Funeral Service will be held at Calgary Kidanemhret Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahdo Church (2020 27 Ave NE, Calgary, AB) with interment to follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens.
