Fondly cherished, Bob’s memory lives on through his devoted wife of 33 years, Lauretta (Laurie) Stevens, and his treasured children – Sean, Tracey, and Christal Stevens. His heart knew no boundaries, as he welcomed his stepchildren, Robert and Catherine McLean, into his life with open arms, treating them as if they were his very own.
Bob’s love and influence extended to his legacy of 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, who will carry his spirit forward. Alongside them, his sisters Marina Maxwell and Lily Iona MacKenzie and brother Murdock John Stevens, as well as many cherished cousins, stand as a testament to the bonds of family that he held dear.
Bob came into this world at the Holy Cross Hospital, Calgary, AB. He spent his growing up years in the warm communities of Langdon and Calgary.
After starting out as a farmer near Langdon, Bob also took on the role of a grain elevator operator. Later, he decided to move his family to Calgary, where he embraced various opportunities. He lent his skills to WestSteel Rosco and Kmart, but it was his remarkable 42 years with the Plesa family at Matts Manufacturing and GN Corporations that brought him the most joy.
Amidst countless joyous family gatherings and the ever-growing tribe, Bob’s happiness knew no bounds. His legacy is a flame that will continue to shine brightly through the ages. Bob possessed a serene wisdom and a wealth of knowledge, often astounding everyone with his ability to solve equations purely through mental calculations. When he wasn’t busy, he found delight in watching TV and delving into the fascinating world of his ancestry.
Celebration of Life will be held at South Calgary Funeral Centre and Crematorium, 12700 Macleod Trail South on September 6th at 1pm with Rev. Fr. Gabriel Arihi officiating.
For those who wish to honor Bob’s memory, contributions can be made to the Alberta Cancer Foundation, specifically directed towards the construction of the Arthur J.E.
