Richard “Dick” passed away suddenly in Calgary, AB on Saturday, December 29, 2012. Richard is survived by his wife, Margaret, of 33 years; step daughter Dawna (Dan) of London, ON; step grandson Bradley (Jen) Robinson; step great grandchildren Anna and Aaron of High River, AB; step grandsons Justin and Richard of Calgary, AB as well as an extensive network of nieces and nephews from coast to coast. He is the beloved brother of Jenny, Rachel and Quinta; brothers-in-law Bruce and Ian; and predeceased by Geoffrey. Richard was also a loved uncle of several nieces and nephews. Before coming to Canada in 1965, he served in the Merchant Navy and at the Radar Establishment in Malvern. After retiring, Dick had time to pursue his life-long passion for astronomy as well as tending his garden, especially his beloved roses. He and Marg always enjoyed life together which included their love of music, model railroading, growing of African Violets, love of the outdoors, biking, hiking and traveling extensively. Dick will be greatly missed by many whose lives he touched. A Memorial Service will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
