April 17, 1936 – April 16, 2011
It is with profound sadness that Peter’s family announces his passing in Calgary on April 16, 2011 at the age of 74 years. He is lovingly remembered and survived by Jacqueline (Jackie) his wife of fifty-two years; son Dan (Juanita); grandsons Curtis and Benjamin; daughter Deleigh McRae (David); grandson Craig; brother-in-law Ken Wik (Olga) as well as by numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Donald “Dan” and Mary Ellen MacLean; infant daughter Heather Dawn MacLean; brothers Don and Norman; sisters Mary Rice and Anna MacLean. Pete was born and raised in Regina. He was active in most sports, and as a young man, he played football for the Regina Rams. Pete worked as a draftsman for PFRA. He married Jackie in 1959, they moved to Calgary in 1972 where he worked in the oil industry. He was an assistant coach for the bantam football (Thorncliffe Hilltoppers) for many years. He loved to play tennis and curling at the Calgary Winter Club. He also loved to golf, and following his retirement, he worked at Country Hills Golf Club. He enjoyed his water colour classes but first and foremost he loved his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and loyal friend. He is deeply loved and will be sorely missed. A Celebration of Peter’s Life will be held at Northminster United Church, 3311 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB T2E 2X7 on Thursday April 21, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to the Commemorative Fund, Northminster United Church or the charity of the donor’s choice. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family via the website www.fostersgardenchapel.ca.
