Nels M. Neilsen

Nels went to be with his Lord and his beloved wife, Helen, on December 20, 2011 just short of his 92nd birthday. He is survived by his four children, Pat (Paul) Thunberg, Don (Nancy) Neilsen, Jim (Lawanda) Neilsen and Keith (Tracy) Neilsen; thirteen grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one brother; a variety of in-laws, nieces, and nephews and a lifetime of friends. Nels joined the RCAF in 1942 and served in Ontario until the conclusion of the war. He enjoyed his two major careers, first in the ministry and then in real estate and was proud that he pursued the latter into his mid-seventies. Nels loved to travel, and he and Helen saw a great deal of the world. He and Helen celebrated their 90th birthdays together surrounded by friends and family and that wonderful day will help all of us who loved them keep them close. He was a hard working, diligent and dependable man with a strong faith that gave him peace in the year since Helen died. A service to celebrate his life will be held at Beddington Pentecostal Church, 16 Bermuda Drive NW, Calgary, on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bethany Care Foundation (Airdrie), 1736 - 1 Ave. NW, Airdrie, AB, T4B 2C7or at www.bethanycarefoundation.com .Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family via the website www.fostersgardenchapel.ca.
