Michael Klapey Sr. passed away peacefully at his home, in Cochrane, Alberta, on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at the age of 80 years.
Michael was born in Bukovina, Ukraine on May 9, 1938 and then settled in Edmonton, Alberta in the 1950s. Michael was a dancer with the Ukrainian Shumka Dancers. He worked as a carpenter and draftsperson most of his life. Michael enjoyed sports and ballroom dancing and was a very proud grandpa.
Michael is lovingly remembered by his children, Alison Schmalenberg (Jeffery), Michael A. Klapey (Lyndsey); his grandchildren, Chloe Schmalenberg, Aiden Klapey, Ethan Klapey and Ayla Graham. In addition he is dearly remembered by his nieces, nephews and former wife, Eleanor Kapach.
He was predeceased by his parents, Nicholas and Pearl; and sisters, Mary and Rose.
