As a teenager Mike developed a love for soccer and went on to play well into his adult years. He was also an avid curler and had the opportunity to travel across Canada while playing for the Calgary City Police. He made many friends along the way.
In his early twenties Mike joined the Calgary Police Service and went on to have a very rewarding career in policing. He loved being a policeman and received many commendations for his great service to the City of Calgary.
Mike had a true love for horse racing and could often be seen at the race track which was previously located at the Stampede grounds in Calgary. He made many dear friends through this shared love of sport.
He is survived by his daughters, Kim Mooth (Jesse), Raelene Fidler (Parker), Clare Russell, son Luke Russell and grandsons Jonas, Brody and Anthony. In addition, he is survived by some truly dear friends. Linda Riley and her son Kiernan shared their home and community with Mike in his final years.
An Honourary Police service will be held at the Police Chapel located at Calgary Police Headquarters, West Winds 5111- 47 St NE Calgary AB, T3J 3R2 on Sunday, December 8, 2019 at 11:00 AM.
