We mourn with profound sadness the departure of Maurice Carney, an extraordinary man and cherished husband, who graced this world until Tuesday, December 10, 2024. Maurice was a beacon of intellect, always eager to expand his knowledge, his mind a treasure trove of erudition.
His faith, deep and true, was tested by the trials of a 13-year battle with illness, yet it remained a steadfast light in his life, illuminating the path for all who knew him. Maurice was not just a man of faith but a devoted servant to God, whose life was marked by a relentless dedication to the service of others and the pursuit of justice.
Maurice leaves behind a legacy of wisdom, kindness, and justice, survived by his loving wife of seventeen years, Yoanna Orman Carney; siblings Kathleen (David), Raymond (Kitty), Janine (Fletcher) and Jocelyne (Michael); mother-in-law
Barbara Fortuna- Orman; close friend (Neil) and many more friends who adored him as well as many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Gerald Carney (1993) and Mother Simone (Légaré) Carney (2011).
Though his earthly journey has ended, his influence continues through the lives he touched and the justice he sought. We will gather to celebrate his remarkable life at a Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 27, 2024 at Saint Anthony’s of Padua Parish, 250 Burrin Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba (West Kildonan), officiated by Father Dominic Yuan. A reception will follow, after which the burial will be held at Transcona Cemetery.
Cremation is being handled by Foster’s Garden Chapel in Calgary, Alberta.
May his soul rest in eternal peace, his faith be reaffirmed, and his legacy of intelligence and integrity inspire for generations to come.
